Key contribution

In accordance with its vision to improve the occupant’s comfort in buildings, SageGlass has partnered with the Center for the Built Environment (CBE) at UC Berkeley to develop a specific module which can be used with the CBE core survey on projects with dynamic glazing.

Aim

To allow occupants to provide feedback to building owners and management, and help further develop the WELL Building Standard.

Detailed requirement

Part 1: Occupant Survey Content

In buildings with 10 or more employees, the Occupant Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) Survey™ from the Center for the Built Environment at UC Berkeley (or approved alternative) is completed by a representative sample of at least 30% of employees at least once per year unless otherwise noted. The survey covers the following topics of occupant satisfaction:

  • Acoustics.
  • Thermal comfort, including humidity and air flow, at least twice a year (once during the cooling season and once during the heating season).
  • Furnishings.
  • Workspace light levels and quality.
  • Odors, stuffiness and other air quality concerns.
  • Cleanliness and maintenance.
  • Layout.

Part 2: Information Reporting

Aggregate results from surveys are reported within 30 days to the following groups:

  • Building owners and managers.
  • Building occupants (upon request).
  • The International WELL Building Institute.

See detailed requirement for Post occupancy survey.

Our contribution

In accordance with its vision to improve the occupant’s comfort in buildings, SageGlass has partnered with the Center for the Built Environment (CBE) at UC Berkeley to develop a specific module which can be used with the CBE core survey on projects with dynamic glazing. This can serve to measure the effective impact of the dynamic glazings on thermal comfort and lighting, in addition to other factors, and provide feedback for further post-occupancy commissioning.
