See below how Glass façade & windows by Saint-Gobain can contribute to LEED V4.0 criteria: Minimum Energy Performance.
Saint-Gobain offers a wide range of high performing products that can be configured thanks to Calumen Live tool, in order to be design the most optimized glazing for all climates.
To reduce the environmental and economic harms of excessive energy use by achieving a minimum level of energy efficiency for the building and its systems.
Option 1 “Whole-building energy simulation”:
Demonstrate a 5% improvement (for new construction) in the proposed building performance rating compared with the baseline building performance rating (using ANSI/ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 90.1–2010 to make the simulation). A USGBC-approved equivalent standard for projects outside the U.S. may be used.
Option 2 “Prescriptive compliance”: ASHRAE 50% Advanced Energy Design Guide
Comply with the mandatory and prescriptive provisions of ANSI/ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 90.1–2010, with errata (or a USGBC-approved equivalent standard for projects outside the U.S.).
Option 3 “Prescriptive compliance”: Advanced BuildingsTM Core PerformanceTM Guide
Comply with the mandatory and prescriptive provisions of ANSI/ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 90.1-2010, with errata (or USGBC approved equivalent standard for projects outside the U.S.).

As part of the building envelop, the glazing will participate in limiting the energy needs in a first step. Glazing will mainly influence 3 types of energy needs: heating, air conditioning and lighting. Glazing properties are directly impacting these 3 areas as following:
- For heating, a low emissivity glass (also call lowe) allows keeping heat inside the building and a better glazing thermal insulation (also called “Ug value”) can limit heat loss.
- For air conditioning, the solar factor (also called “g value”) has to be considered
- And for lighting, thanks to an important light transmission (in %), natural light can enter into the building.
Glazing offers full possibility to create performant solutions which are directly linked to the context of use (such as geometry, geographical localization of the building, window size and orientation). Thanks to coasted glass and insulated glass with their properties and our performance simulation tools, we can create the optimized glazing for your project.
Find below some examples of glazing configurations according the context of use – an extract of the wide range of possibilities that we can provide:
COOL-LITE XTREME 70/33
An extremely high selectivity solar control coating featuring advanced thermal properties to ensure both daylight and thermal comfort.
New generation of Saint-Gobain low-E (low emissivity) glass which combines aesthetic, thermal insulation, solar gains and natural light.
A Low-Emissivity glass combining the highest level of light transmission with a very low Ug-value, to reduce heat losses to a minimum.
COOL-LITE XTREME 60/28
High selectivity solar control glass with advanced thermal insulation properties.
