Key contribution

Saint-Gobain offers a wide range of high performing products that can be configured. Also, thanks to the CalumenLive tool which promotes green architecture and optimizes glazing for all climates.

Aim

To prove that primary energy consumption due to building services has been reduced and that the feasibility on the use of renewable energy has been studied.

Detailed requirement

Reducing primary energy consumption due to heating, cooling, lighting, Service Water Heating, ventilation and ancillary systems linked to user comfort, consumption of artificial lighting not related to the visual comfort of users, consumption by electromechanical equipment, using of renewable energy, reducing the primary energy consumption of the refrigeration systems used in refrigerated warehouses.

Our contribution

As part of the building envelope, the glazing participates in limiting the energy requirements. Glazing mainly influences 3 types of energy needs:

  • Heating needs: by retaining heat inside the building with a Low-E glass or by limiting heat loss with good thermal insulation (Ug value).
  • Cooling needs:  by having an adapted solar factor (g value).
  • Artificial lighting needs: by providing access to natural light during the day (light transmission).

However, the performance of a solution not only depends on its inherent properties but also its context of use. Because of this, the ranking of the product range could be very different, depending on one location to another or a specific location, for instance, one building to the other.

Below you will find some examples of glazing configurations according to the context of use. Here is a short overview of our wide range of solutions:
