Key contribution

Saint-Gobain manufactures high performing glazing that allows reducing the energy demand of the building. Thanks to Calumen live tool - it makes it easy to find the most appropriate glazing adapted to the local climate and other characteristics of the project.

Aim

To ensure that the building design allows for reductions in energy demand due to building services.

Detailed requirement

Improving the ability of the building to reduce its energy demand, the air permeability of the building envelope and the ability of refrigerated warehouse envelopes to limit heat loss.

Our contribution

Integrated into the building envelope, glazing can significantly reduce energy requirements by impacting heating, air conditioning, and artificial lighting needs. Let's understand the importance of glazing in designing a project.

  • Installing a low emissivity glass allows the retention of heat inside the building, and a better glazing thermal insulation (called the “Ug value”) can limit heat loss;
  • Considering the solar factor (called the “g value”) of the glass, it is possible to reduce air conditioning needs; and
  • Finally, glazing with the high light transmission (in %) allows natural light to enter the building and reduce artificial lighting needs.

With the help of relevant properties of coated and insulated glass and our performance simulation tools, we can create optimized glazing for your project. Innovative and performance solutions can be designed as per the project characteristics such as its locations, building orientation, future usage of the building, etc.
