See below how Design glass solution by Saint-Gobain can contribute to BREEAM criteria: Recycled aggregates
To recognize and encourage the use of recycled and secondary aggregates, thereby reducing the demand for virgin material and optimizing material efficiency in construction.
Percentage levels of recycled or secondary aggregate specified against set targets. This percentage can be measured using either weight or volume.
Learn more about Recycled aggregates
As recycled glass is considered to be a secondary aggregate, cullet plays an important role in reducing Saint-Gobain’s demand for virgin material.
On average, 30% of the total weight of a glass sheet made by Saint-Gobain comes from internal cullet (broken glass from glass manufacturing that is reintroduced into the original process), pre-consumer cullet (glass cut-offs purchased from glass processors before use of the final product) and post-consumer cullet (from demolition and renovation). This is a direct result of our commitment to sustainable building.
