See below how Acoustic ceilings & Wall panels by BREEAM can contribute to WELL criteria: Innovation
Key contribution
Exemplary level of performance in existing BREEAM issues
The criteria where Ecophon primarily can contribute to credits for ”Exemplary level of performance in existing BREEAM issues” are:
• Hea 02 Indoor air quality: our products fulfil the requirements in table 18; and
• Mat 01 Life cycle impacts: we have Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for 90% of our products in line with our commitment to green building.
Approved innovations :
Ecophon offers psycho-acoustic studies where we let building occupants answer a series of questions. Based on the answers, we then recommend the most appropriate acoustic solutions.
Aim
To support innovation within the construction industry through the recognition of sustainability related benefits which are not rewarded by standard BREEAM issues.
Requirement summary
There are two ways to benefit from the Innovation credits: either by meeting the exemplary level of building performance defined for one or more of the BREEAM issues such as Hea 02 Indoor Air Quality or Wst 01 construction waste management. Or by using an “approved innovation”: any technology, method or process that can be shown to improve the sustainability performance of a building’s design, construction, operation, maintenance or demolition, and which is approved as innovative by BRE Global.

Our contribution
The psychological aspect of acoustics is very important. In the end, it is always people’s perceptions that is are crucial for their well-being. Ecophon cooperates with leading scientists to increase the knowledge of how sound affects us physically, physiologically and psychologically.
One result of this is that we offer psycho-acoustic studies where we can develop the optimum solutions, by talking to the people that will occupy a building.
