See below how Acoustic panels by Ecophon can contribute to BREEAM criteria: Low Carbon Design
Key contribution
Ecophon offers systems, made from sustainable materials, for the acoustic treatment of thermally activated building systems (TABS) buildings that allow for good acoustics without compromising energy-saving features or thermal comfort.
Aim
To encourage the adoption of design measures, which reduce building energy consumption and associated carbon emissions and minimise reliance on active building services systems.
Requirement summary
Analysis of the proposed building design and development is undertaken to identify opportunities for and encourage the adoption of passive design solutions, including free cooling in order to reduce the overall building energy demand. A feasibility study has been carried out to establish the most appropriate on site or near site low or zero carbon energy sources for the building or development, and is specified.

Our contribution
In green buildings with thermally activated building systems (TABS), the high thermal mass of concrete slab floors is used for equalizing temperature variations in the building. In order for the heat to be transferred to and from the concrete slabs, fully covering acoustic ceilings cannot be installed.
To create a good acoustic environment in a TABS building, a combination of free-hanging absorbent panels, wall-mounted absorbers and sound-absorbing screens is used. This solution provides low energy consumption, high comfort and good room acoustics.
Ecophon offers a number of products and system solutions for TABS buildings. Combining products from the Ecophon Master ™ Matrix, Ecophon Solo ™ and Ecophon Akusto™ series achieves, good acoustics without significantly affecting the TABS effect.
Ecophon's wide product range brings great design possibilities – both acoustically and visually – and Ecophon's acoustic experts are happy to give good advice on how to combine and place our products for the best results.
